Rainbow Papayas – 10# Box

The Rainbow papaya is a bright yellow-orange with a unique papaya flavor, very sweet, and very high in Vitamin C.  The Rainbow Papaya is a hybrid variety of papaya produced by crossing the Kapoho Solo (yellow flesh), and the Sunup (red-flesh).  It was developed by the University of Hawaii, Cornell University, and USDA to be resistant to the papaya ringspot virus, and first made commercially available in 1998.

Papayas are an excellent source of vitamins and minerals. They are high in Vitamin C, and a good source of fiber,  Vitamins A and B6, folate, calcium, magnesium, potassium, and many other vitamins and minerals.

A 10 lb. box of Rainbow Papaya typically contains 7-9 papayas.  Papayas are harvested at a ripeness to maximize sweetness and flavor and still survive shipping.  They should  be eaten when they give to a gentle touch, which is usually when the skin is 3/4 to fully yellow.  Once they have reached their desired ripeness, they are best stored in the refrigerator to slow the ripening process and extend their shelf life.

Shipping Information

Due to the nature of the product, papayas are only shipped ONCE every two weeks. We process orders Sunday and pack on Monday for Tuesday/Wednesday shipment through FedEx. Papayas generally arrive in 1-3 days.  If for some reason there is any delay in shipping, we will notify you.

Papayas can be shipped anywhere in the contiguous USA, with the exception of Alaska.  Shipping is free.  At this time we are unable to ship papayas internationally.
